“Photo Help”
You’ve heard the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Well in the online auto selling market your pictures say a TON about your car; they can make, or break, your sale. It can be easy to walk out into the driveway, take three or four shots of the outside, one of the inside and think, “That’s good, most people know what this type of car looks like anyway”. The reality is WE all want to see YOUR car at its best! We aren’t buying some generic example that we already know about, we need to see your car in all of its glory, clean and pristine! So we’ve assembled some quick tips on the best way to capture the essence of your auto, and remember, better to have too many pictures than not enough!
Here we go:
- Make sure its day time and the sun is shining!
- Good natural light is the best.

- Wash the exterior and clean the interior.
- Clean cars sell the fastest.

- Yep, clean the glass, too!
- Shine on the tires and rubber bits doesn’t hurt, as well as a rinsed off engine. (If really dirty use engine cleaner available at the local auto store.)
- Use your flash, and get the car out of the garage and out from under the car cover.
- Expose it all! Your not just selling the drivers side!

- Check the area behind and around your car for junk or trash.
- Take straight-on front, left side, rear, right side photos-from waist level.
- Fill the whole picture frame with the car, standing about 6 feet away.
- If you have scratches or ‘imperfections’, take a close up and point them out. We’d rather see your hand and a scratch, than not know there’s a scratch at all!
- Take ¾ shots of all of the angles, front/left, right/rear, etc.
- Take tread wear shots of the tires.
- Take close up wheel shots to confirm the type of wheel and condition of them.

- Take detailed interior shots.
- The drivers seat and carpet area are the places with the most wear. We want to see those areas especially to asses wear and tear.
- Take shots of the rest of the seats, front and rear!
- Door panels are important too!
- Take a shot of the dash-board with the gauges lit up to confirm that the lights all work and the listed mileage is accurately displayed on the odometer.
- High-light any special features or details of your car, such as navigation, DVD player, custom stereo, rare or extra options that came with the car, etc.
- Have fun, and when your done-email them to us, or mail the extra prints-we’ll handle the rest!
